This is a lovely antique bowl made by Alfred Fenton & Co. Staffordshire, England in the late 1800’s. It is a brown transferware floral pattern called Elsmere done on white Ironstone. The bowl measures 5″ high by 7″ wide including handles. Alfred Fenton & Company were earthenware manufacturers at the “Brook Street Works”, Hanley Staffordshire from 1887-1901. The partners were Alfred Fenton, James Tunstall Fenton, Arthur Fenton and John Fenton. This is a beautiful example of transferware in a delicate soft floral pattern. The bowl would look lovely with flowers, soaps, cotton balls or a plant in any area of the home.
